The brand new matt and the new lick of paint were celebrated properly at the Aikido Schule Hamburg on Saturday, 19th November 2016. Almost 50 visitors, Aikidoka, parents and friends of the Aikido Schule Hamburg came together in a relaxed pre-Christmas gathering.
Firstly, the children and youngsters demonstrated their Aikido skills, lead by Aaron. Rolls, jumps and techiques were met with applause, in particular by the parents present. Then, Lothar Sensei demonstrated Aikido with the help of Carsten, Frank and Holger. Finally, Lothar made a point to thank some of the Aikidoka who had been practising Aikido with him for several decades.
The choir Fazzolette (roughly translates to little handkerchief), presented italian songs, which – together with the festive lights – created a very special atmosphere.
Then we had a world premier. Eckhard Breitschuh, who not only practices Aikido but also sings german versions Jacques Brel songs sang for the first time ever four of his own compositions. Although the Dojo’s acoustics are not ideal for voice and guitar, the audience thanked Eckhard with generous applause.
After many friendly chats and relaxed dancing, the party ended late at night.
